Detection & Management

A thorough skin check, with a clear plan

Using dermoscopy — a magnified, structured way of examining the skin — Dr Sam assesses spots, moles and lesions to identify anything suspicious early, when it's most treatable. If something needs a closer look, the next steps are explained clearly so you always know what's happening and why.

01
Full-body skin check
A systematic, head-to-toe examination of your skin using dermoscopy.
02
Mole mapping & monitoring
Tracking spots of interest over time so changes are caught quickly.
03
Biopsy when needed
If a lesion looks suspicious, a biopsy confirms the diagnosis and guides treatment.

Treatment & Minor Surgery

Surgical treatment, done in-clinic

When a skin cancer or suspicious lesion needs removing, Dr Sam carries out the surgery here in the clinic under local anaesthetic. With further training in skin cancer surgery and reconstructive techniques, he can manage everything from straightforward excisions to more complex repairs.

That means most patients avoid a hospital referral and a long wait — diagnosis and treatment stay with the same clinician who knows your history.

Excision
Complete surgical removal of the lesion with an appropriate margin, sent for pathology.
Flap & graft repair
Reconstructive techniques to close larger or cosmetically sensitive areas neatly.
Benign lesion removal
Moles, cysts and lipomas removed with care for a clean, cosmetic result.
Check your skin yearly

Most skin cancers are highly treatable when found early. An annual skin check is one of the simplest things you can do for your health.

Common questions

What should I expect during a skin cancer check?
A skin cancer check involves a thorough examination of your skin from head to toe. It's recommended to wear loose clothing and avoid makeup, fake tan or nail polish for the appointment.
Can I have a biopsy on the same day?
In most cases, a same-day biopsy is not necessary. However, if a lesion appears high risk or there are other exceptional clinical circumstances, we will do our best to perform the biopsy on the same day whenever appropriate. Our priority is to provide timely, high-quality care while accommodating your needs wherever possible.
How painful are surgical procedures?
Surgical procedures are usually performed under local anaesthetic, meaning the area will be completely numb during the procedure. You may feel some pressure, but no pain. Post-procedure discomfort is usually mild and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief. Please discuss any concerns with Dr Sam during your consultation.
How much does skin cancer treatment cost?
This is variable depending on the size, location and type of skin cancer. The complexity is determined by the type of closure necessary to achieve the best possible outcome. Dr Sam will endeavour to discuss those details prior to any intervention.
How often should I have a skin check?
Most adults should have a professional skin check every 12 months. If you have a history of skin cancer, many moles, fair skin, significant sun exposure, or a strong family history, you may need checks more often if recommended by your doctor.
At what age should I start skin checks?
There is no set age to start skin checks. Adults should consider a baseline skin check, especially if they have risk factors for skin cancer or notice any new or changing spots.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required. You can book a consultation directly with the clinic to discuss any skin cancer or skin related issues.
